Hasn't quickdraw been deprecated?

  this is usually a sign that Apple intends to remove support for it  
in an os rev in the not too distant future. Writing apps to quicktime  
apis is asking for trouble imho.

To read between the lines of what Rainer wrote, the only path forward  
that doesn't run the risk of being widowed by future os releases is  
cocoa.
