But that could be because the compiler is already good enough for
everyone's needs. If that were not the case there is no reason why
the situation could not be changed.

Could be. But it's not clear whether that or waiting for Apple to
release Leopard is the limiting factor. If it's the latter it would
take a lot more money than I have to make a difference.
