We already have abcl, jacol, jfli, etc. Swing is a lowest common  
denominator like many supposedly cross-platform GUI toolkits and it  
certainly doesn't look native on Mac OS X (intentionally so imho, but  
that's another rant). Additionally, it doesn't get us access to the  
cocoa frameworks since Apple is deprecating java as a language for  
doing cocoa development.
